Join us virtually on March 25th, 2026 from 4 to 5pm for a lecture titled, "Exploring Pennsylvania’s Governing Documents from 1682 Until Now" with Dr. Joel Fishman, Adjunct Instructor and Co-Director of the Pennsylvania Constitution website at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Duquesne University. Pennsylvania has had five constitutions: 1776, 1790, 1838, 1874, and 1968. Dr. Fishman will discuss the background and contents of each of the constitution highlighting the major changes in the constitutions and go into more depth of the current Constitution.
About Dr. Joel Fishman:
Dr. Joel Fishman has Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.L.S. degree from Queens College (CUNY). He retired from the Allegheny County Law Library after almost 40 years (including 17 at Duquesne University School of Law). He is a specialist in Pennsylvania legal history and bibliography. He is a prolific author of more than 400 publications and is Co-Director of the Pennsylvania Constitution Website at the Duquesne University Thomas R. Kline School of Law. He is currently a Law Library Faculty Fellow at the Law School, and research consultant to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Historical Society and Pennsylvania Commission for Fairness & Justice. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Duquesne University and University of Pittsburgh.
